Burns 250

A celebration of the genius that was and continues to be, Robert Burns

2009 is the 250th anniversary of Robert Burns birth and events are planned all over Scotland and beyond to celebrate this. The Burns250 show has been created especially with this in mind. It is a one-man show accompanied by Powerpoint slides which tells Burns' life-story based around his songs and poems.

Each song or poem has been carefully chosen to represent an event in the poet's life from his first song O Once I loved a Bonnie Lass - written for Nellie Kilpatrick, through Holy Willie's Prayer - for his friends Gavin Hamilton and Robert Aitken, Ae Fond Kiss - for Agnes McLehose, The Gowden Locks Of Anna - for Anna Park - the mother of one of his daughters, and of course Tam O Shanter - written for his friend Captain Francis Grose.   One of the last songs he wrote before his untimely death age only 37 - Here's a Health to Ane I Lo'e Dear - written for his 'nurse' Jessie Lewars- is also featured.
